It is searching a Head of Legal and Compliance for the Iberia Region to be based in Madrid.

The lawyer will be responsible for the legal and the compliance areas of the business in Spain and Portugal. He/she will be a key business partner to the Iberia managers in relation to all of the products and solutions provided to a wide variety of customers, including B2B and B2C transactions. In addition, the candidate will assess the legal and compliance issues arising from the entire supply chain in Iberia.
The Counsel will be involved in the company’s daily commercial contracts concerning its product and digital solutions supply to a variety of private and public customers, procurement contracts, service contracts, collaboration, innovation and joint venture agreements, and all commercial agreements which stem from the manufacturing, wholesale and retail sale of goods and services.
In addition, the candidate will provide comprehensive and generalist legal advice to the business with regard to any matter required, including, but not limited to M&A transactions, some limited company house-keeping, IP law, Data Protection, Competition and IT and digital contracts and regulations. He/she will also review key labour law issues and provide strategic advice and will supervise and coordinate litigation matters.
The candidate will manage a reduced team and will join the groups’ EMEA team of in-house counsels. He/she will be expected to assist with regard to international legal matters as a member of this network with regard to transnational legal and compliance issues.
The counsel will be in charge for implementing and monitoring the groups’ compliance programmes and protocols. He/she will assist to improve and maintain a compliance culture across the business areas and will report to the European Legal and Compliance Counsels. The candidate will have a dotted line report to the managers of the various business areas in Spain and Portugal, and will be a member of the Management Team.
He/she will ensure and create homogeneus legal and compliance documents alongside the head quarters’ directions. The candidate will manage the legal and compliance areas’ budget and will drive and coordinate the work of external counsels for key projects and matters.
We are looking for a senior Spanish qualified legal and compliance counsel with experience ranging between 10 and 20 years acquired to a large extent in international and dynamic corporations. The successful candidate will have prior experience in managing legal and compliance complex matters, dealing with daily issues and in dealing with management team and staff of all kinds of backgrounds and categories.
The candidate must be used to providing key and strategic legal and compliance advice, giving solutions and working with the management to strive the business goals. In addition, he/she will be used to dealing with all types of legal issues getting fully involved in them with a view to providing practical solutions. The candidate shall have sound experience in commercial contracts, corporate and labor law, and will be a generalist able to address any legal matter both arising on a daily basis and from key strategic national and international projects.
The person have experience in compliance and will have deployed programmes and managed risks and internal investigations in coordination with horizontal teams and groups.
The candidate will be used to working in changing environments, dealing with matters in a flexible but rigorous fashion and in a collaborative framework. He/she will have excellent communication skills and will have the ability to influence the organisation, developing trust, impact and respect. The counsel will be hands-on and will take full ownership over his/her areas of responsibility, while managing horizontal teams and promoting collaboration and support.
